BLITT EXHIBIT SHOWCASES PASSIONATE GESTURES IN ART
New York, NY…Internationally known painter and sculptor Rita Blitt will exhibit her latest work at Ezair Gallery from October 1-31, 2005. The exhibit entitled “The Passionate Gesture,” will showcase Blitt’s stainless steel wall sculpture and pedestal sculpture.
Blitt’s elegant paintings and sculptures celebrate her love of dance and the spontaneous flow of movement captured in the drawn gesture. As Blitt has said of her working method, “The real magic moment is when that line comes out of my hand or two hands simultaneously. I feel like I’m dancing.”
Blitt has works publicly installed, in private collections and in museums worldwide, including Australia, Germany, Israel, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan and in many states in the U.S. Blitt’s most recent installation is a 6’ x 11’ x 24” stainless steel sculpture called “Freedom,” outside of the new Plaza Library in Kansas City, MO.
Among Blitt’s upcoming exhibit venues are the Walton Arts Center, Fayetteville, AR, and a retrospective at the Jacquelyn Casey Hudgens Museum and Art Center in suburban Atlanta, GA. She recently exhibited a wall sculpture in Venice, Italy and has been invited to participate in the 2005 Florence Biennale.
An opening reception for Blitt’s New York exhibit will be held on October 6 from 6-8pm.
